Sunnyland Elementary School Harvest Carnival

Sunnyland Elementary School held a Harvest Festive Carnival on Oct. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. The carnival was a fundraiser and about 500 people including children and parents turned up to show their support.

“It’s something fun for the kids,” Laurie Barrett said, 34, organizer of the carnival and vice president of Sunnyland Elementary School’s PTA.

In the previous year, the carnival was mostly organized by Barrett with occasional help from a volunteer. This year, Barrett said she sent an email out requesting for assistance and the response was great. 50 volunteer turned up to provide their assistance.

The funds raised in from the carnival would go into the PTA fund which will be used for the students of Sunnyland Elementary School, for instance, field trips.

The carnival took three to four weeks of planning to put into place. The result was 14 different stations set up in the gym with interesting games like Fishing Pond, Bean Bag and Tattoo Parlor. A 47-feet-long air-blown train was rented too for the students to enjoy the carnival.
